Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

service and maintain crushers on at least two occasions, including:

carrying out prestart, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

servicing and maintaining crushers

operating equipment controls, monitoring gauges and systems

controlling identified hazards

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

preparing written records and reports

undertaking inspections and fault finding

applying site and manufacturer requirements and procedures for servicing and maintenance of the site’s crushers

applying isolation and lock-out requirements and procedures

working in confined spaces

conducting safety checks

operating equipment within specified limitations and capabilities.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures and confirm that the work activity is compliant

implement the requirements, procedures and techniques for servicing and maintaining crushers

work effectively with others to service and maintain crushers in a way that meets all required outcomes

communicate clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions and to determine coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities.


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

key policies, procedures and documentation required to service and maintain crushers, including:

identification and management of risks

methods to identify, address and report environmental issues

work health and safety

methods to identify and correct operational faults

processes to select and check for faults, all plant, tools and equipment to carry out tasks

manufacturer specifications and procedures

principles and techniques for identifying relevant hazards and emergencies

techniques for coordinating and communicating job activities with others.
